More about this scene
This imposing and quite enormous Wesleyan chapel is testimony to the power of Methodism in 19th-century Redditch. It was opened in 1843, and was extended in 1881; but it was demolished in the 1980s to make way for a gas and electrical superstore. Fortunately, the foreground trees have matured well and screen the new building quite effectively.
