I Remember Hall Street, Clement Street, The Prestons, The Tysons And Family Members Of The Popes, Christians And Molyneuxs

A Memory of Salford.

Carrying on from my comments of yesterday, when I talked about Clarendon Secondary Modern, I am reminded how easy it is to lose touch. I don't suppose that I would recognise much of Salford nowadays. I lived in Hall Street, just off Lissadel street until 1962 when we had to move house when the roof fell in.I can't remember the number but I do remember living with the Cogswells on one side and the Smiths on the other - next door but one lived the Abbotts. Before this we had lived in the Lord Nelson pub for a while . My parents split up in 1963 and I ended up living with my gran for a while in Harrogate Street, just off Cross Lane and then in Tatton Street, off Regent Road. Eventually, I ended up living in Clement Street, just off Clowes Street. I remember Susan Preston who lived next door and Geoffrey Preston who lived on the other side. So I was surrounded by Prestons who were not related. Isn't life complicated? Graeme an Raymond Tyson lived in Clarence Street. I wonder how they are?
Likewise, I am presently reminded of my cousins and also aunts and uncles I haven't seen for over forty years. Let me see now. There were uncle Arnold and Aunty Ethel whose children were my cousins Ian, Lesley and Janice; uncle Albert and aunty Jean and their children Terrance, Jean and Kevin. It would be good to hear from you.
