Seaton, The Beach And Promenade 1898

More about this scene
Seaton is Devon's easternmost resort, with only a few miles of rugged cliffs and landslips separating the town from neighbouring Dorset. Seaton's fishing industry declined soon after this photograph was taken; notice the fishing boats drawn up on the beach. It is now a much larger town, and a popular resort. The Coffee Tavern (right) has survived as part of the Hook and Parrot public house.
