More about this scene
Just on the outskirts of Saltaire lies this beautiful glen, which in Victorian times was a firm favourite for a summer-time walk. High above here an amusement park was established with an aerial ride, Japanese gardens and a switchback railway. A toboggan ride also careered down the side of the glen, but it was closed in 1900 after an accident. The Glen Tramway is a delightful way to travel to the top - it has been operating for over a century.
