More about this scene
This beautiful sunken garden has been created in a disused gravel pit. Following the death of the owner, the site was acquired by the town and first opened to the public in 1960. Dedicated to the memory of Sir Winston Churchill, this long, narrow garden is a delight to visit in spring when the high banks are a mass of flowers. In the background Prittlewell Church can be seen.
