More about this scene
The grandeur of both St Peter's and Market Hill are shown to best advantage in the days before car parking. On the right, market stalls are being set up, and ahead children gather in expectation of market day. On the left a policeman pauses under the awning of Wright's the family grocers, later to become E W King's. Ahead in Old Market is the now demolished Bon Marche.
