Sully, Church And Lychgate c.1950

More about this scene
The church dates back to the Norman Conquest, but very little of the original church remains; the initial period of restoration in the 1820s dramatically altered its structure. Local people believe that the yew tree near the path was planted in the early 19th century to deter the playing of ball games. A striking 20th-century addition is the lychgate – a commemoration of the end of the First World War.
