Regent Cafe & Ice Cream Parlour
A Memory of Sutton.
I was a projectionist at the "CURZON" cinema in Cheam Road form 1962 - 1986 and would always go to the Regent for lunch..Was always a good meal and you could get 3 courses for around 2/6d..
Served by two lovely waitresses Eve & Day..who incidentally came to my 21st Birthday party!
Toni was aided by his wife, son and daughter
He always looked miserable, but in fact was a very jolly and happy person when you spoke to him
Like so much of the old Sutton, his is a much missed shop
To days Sutton is awful and should be avoided as much as possible..Back in the day it was such a great, safe town for shopping and entertainment unlike today

What I'm after is a photo of a house (now gone) called Danesboro in SuttonPark Road
Maybe you won't recall it, but someone might
It was a Doctors surgery, there were 3 of then, Drs Williams. Tindall and Del a Monte
I lived there ,my mum was the receptionist
Good old days gone, as you say leave Sutton alone now

Does anyone know relatives of Toni Capaldi the owner, who may be convinced to give up the recipe for his amazing and unparalleled tasting ice-cream?
If anyone knows anything, apart from the 'hypocriphal' stories of gold top and butter mixed in a tin bath, why not start a GoFundMe page to raise a huge amount of cash to buy the recipe and setup a place in Sutton somewhere, maybe on the green at the bottom of town?
Good idea or what?
Get your thinking caps on.....
