More about this scene
The green was at the heart of the old village. The tower of the Norman church of St Cadfan stands in the centre. The church was restored and partly rebuilt in 1882. The 7th-century St Cadfan's Stone, in the church, is thought to bear the earliest example of written Welsh. Adjoining the churchyard is St Cadfan's Well, in which Giraldus Cambrensis bathed on his pilgrimage through Wales in 1180.
