More about this scene

Caption for Atherington, the Village c1950: The rough village seat is overshadowed by the spreading chestnut tree: all are still there, half a century along. The gable to the left now proclaims that the building is a tea room, bed and breakfast and shop. Milk churns are - of course - consigned to the history books.

Memories of Atherington

I was the very first pupil at Ashley Manor School, and hold some very fond memories of my time there. Atherington was a very important time of my life, I enjoyed the shop, park and the wonderful church, I got my jubilee cup at the village fete. I would love to visit the area again.
