Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Axminster was once famous for the manufacture of carpets, though the industry relocated to Wilton after 1835. On the left is the United Reformed church, where rests Thomas Whitty, who founded the Axminster carpet industry in the 18th century. The imposing residence on the right is Oak House, built for local lawyer Simon Bunter in the 1750s. In the far distance is the George Hotel, a coaching inn dating to 1594.

My Last School In England
My sister Carole and I both attended Axminster County secondary school, we left for Australia in July 1964. Carole and I will be remembered for the different skin we had. It has been diagnosed by specialists in Australia as Ichtyosis CIE. I have memories of friends who's names were Madeline Darke from Millway Rise and especially Jill Anning from Kilmington. Mrs Stock who taught craft. Mr Vickery.

The Cosy Cafe
My family owned the Cosy Cafe on Lyme Road in the 1950s. I did not start working their until 1957 as I was still at school until then, but I still remember a lot of the customers who use to come in for their cups of tea. Aminster Secondary Modern School
I have some rather bad memories of school years spent at this school, because I was a rather shy and insecure child so I tended to be the victim of the school bullies. One I remember very vividly was a Maureen Ashby, I also remember a Miss Wallis as the domestic science teacher, who used to make me feel very nervous and clumsy because I was left handed. Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
