More about this scene
The War Memorial has been landscaped and protected from traffic, but the 'Keep Left' bollards are a few months away from installation. Beyond the parked car to the right is the tourist office and market place. Monday is Market Day in Bakewell. On the right, Burgons was a pre-supermarket groceries and provisions supplier. Butter was cut from a huge slab, sugar was weighed into stiff blue bags and biscuits also came loose - weighed out from large square tins.
