More about this scene
Many of the sturdy, timber-framed cottages in the centre of this lovely village have been reinforced and decorated with brickwork during the 18th century. The late 13th-century church of St John the Baptist, which forms the focal point of the settlement, had its distinctive green copper spire added during the 19th century, as the result of a gift by a member of the Oxenden family.
