More about this scene
Bideford, two miles up-river from Appledore, is now the main commercial port in the area. Once the town manufactured and exported cloth and built ships; it imported tobacco and salted cod, and wool from the Continent for the Devon weaving industry. Today the quay is mostly used by the Lundy ferries.
