More about this scene

On Ray Lane, the road to Lingfield, at its junction with Tandridge Lane, stands The Red Barn; in the 1950s it offered luncheon, teas and dinners to travellers. It makes a picturesque composition behind its pond. The barn itself is no longer agricultural, and has been added to the restaurant: nowadays it offers 'The Family Welcome', and there is a huge car park to the right of this view. The house was built as a 15th-century open hall house, but it was altered in the 17th century.

I got married at Blindley Heath Church in June 1971, Mr Clark was the vicar at that time. It was a very hot day our wedding reception was held at Crowhurst Village Hall, a very pretty setting, my parents chose well. They lived at The Villars, Blindley Heath....happy days. Christine Cox
I was married at Blindley Heath Church in June 1961, it was a lovely warm sunny day. We had our reception at the Red Barn, it was superb and it only cost 7 shillings and sixpence a head. Those were the days.
