Sharkham Bay/Point Caravan Park

A Memory of Brixham.

Used to holiday at this caravan park in the first half of the 1970s. It was pretty basic compared to the Pontins camp just over the hedge. They had a pool, tennis courts etc. We only had a toilet and shower block and a very basic club house that sold a few drinks. Can anyone remember it? Would be lovely to know what happened to it - was it swallowed up by Pontins - before Pontins burnt down and is now a housing estate I gather with "Sharkham" in it's name.

My father put a caravan on Sharkham Point caravan park in late 1950 and I holidayed there until 1969. Went to have a look at the site a few years back and it was still there then. Would love to know what has happened to it now.
Hello Sue. Perhaps the information I was given about Sharkham Point holiday park being built on is incorrect then if you visited not that log ago and it was still there. I wonder if the St Mary's Bay Holiday Camp became Pontin's later on - see photograph on the right of this page. Happy times at Sharkham Point.
Pontins was situated at St Mary's Bay.My mum was living near to it in 1988 at the Leonard Cheshire Home.
