Bryn Bras During Ww2

A Memory of Bryn Bras Castle.

I WAS SENT TO THIS HOME ,RUN BY NUNS . I WAS THERE APPROX 2 1/2 YEARS, RETURNING TO WATHAMSTOW IN 1944 MY MAIN FRIENDS WERE ROBERTA GREGORY, JEANNIE ASHMAN AND BARBARA GREY I DID NOT FIND IT A VERY HAPPY TIME. BUT REMEMBER SISTER MARY BOSCOE AS MY TEACHER, AND SISTER EDITH AS MATRON, i MUST SAY IT PUT ME OFF RELIGION FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! I GO OVER TO WALES VERY OFTEN , AND BELONG TO THE BOWLINE CLIMBING CLUB AND WE HAVE A COTTAGE IN NEARBY BRYNREFAIL . WHEN WE WALK DOWN TO PEN LLYN {HEAD OF THE LAKE/}I OFTEN THINK OF OUR SUNDAY WALKS IN A CROCODILE DOWN TO THAT SPOT I STILL HAVE A PHOTO TAKEN OF US ALL OUTSIDE IN THE GROUNDS I OFTEN WALK UP THE ROAD UNDER THE ARCH ,PAST THE LAKE AND ON TO LLANBERIS WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANY ONE ELSE WHO WAS THERE

Hi Pam, I've just been reminiscing and looked up Bryn Bras where my older sister went for a short time due to bad health .. asthma. Her name was Shirley Mason .. though obviously not one of your best friends! I can't recall what year it was but remember visiting- and her showing us where they went (I think a room off a big sloping drive) for their daily cod liver oil!! I don't think she was very happy there .. but it brought back memories to me. We lived in Winchmore Hill N21 and went to Bryn Bras by train which I recall being a long arduous journey - and being disappointed the mountains weren't bigger!! Best wishes, Mary Dawe
