Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

1948 1967

A Memory of Chadwell Heath.

I spent those years living in West Road.
The primary School was know as Japan Road School and I suspect long gone.
My memories are of the Rest Centre on the edge of St Chads Park, the coal merchant on the corner of Alexandra Road, Pasks bike shop where you could also buy your maggots for fishing, trolley buses leaving from the depot next to the Gaumont, the opticians in the High Road (Jim Peters of marathon running fame), scrumping an orchard that was on the arterial road opposite Marks Gate, bike speedyway on Sunday evenings at Little Heath.
I will return one day to just wander the streets of my childhood.

Japan Road stood until quite recently. I lived in sight of Brewsters the coal merchant. Used to climb a tree overhanging their wall innAlexander Road and sat wuiet as people walked under me. Mum told me in the war, a german plane strafed the area as she walked my sister in the Pram. A brewster lorry drove in front of her to provide cover. I’ m still friends with Warrens son, the TV man from the High Road shop. If you do that walk, call me and we can meet up. Dave
