Charminster dates back to at least Saxon times. Even in 1960, most of the residents would have been able to trace back their Dorset roots for generations, for there was not then the movement between English communities that there is today. As we can see from the prominent aerial, television had arrived - it changed the recreations of Charminster for ever.
