More about this scene

Chedworth is a sprawling village with Cotswold stone cottages that cling to the valley sides. In the hey- day of the woollen industry, shepherds and their families came from Wales to live here and tend sheep in the surrounding countryside. Consequently the village was bi-lingual, with Welsh and English spoken in equal measure. Chedworth is famous for its well-preserved Roman villa, which was discovered in 1864 when a gamekeeper digging a ferret out of a rabbit burrow discovered fragments of mosaic. The villa has been owned by the National Trust since 1924.
