Bury Road

A Memory of Chingford.

I well recall helping to pull the 40th Epping Forest Scouts trek cart with its iron shod wheels loaded with camping gear, along here on the way to Gilwell Park.

I lived in Kingsley Gardens with my Mum and dad and my brother from about 1940; I was born in 1939 in Danbury Essex. We were on the Ground floor and we had a lovely family living in the flat above. The girl, who was about my age was called Anne. We used to play a lot in the street and also in the Park which we could reach through a hole in the fence.

I often wonder what happened to all the kids that I used to play with all those years ago. What happened to Kenny, Terry Shirley and most of all, what happened to Anne?
