Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Kingham Cottages 1960

A Memory of Combe Down.

My Gran and Grandad (Mr and Mrs Doman) lived in one of the cottages next to kingham House in the late fifties early sixties, next door to a Mr and Mrs Cole. They had a son called Cyril. Does any one remember them or have any old photos? My Grandad used to work for Monkton Combe school and I believe the house was owned by the school and when he retired they moved to De Montault Cottage at the bottom of the 66 steps.

Hello everyone! I am doing some family history research and have just found out that one of my relatives (Lilian Curthoys) married Cyril Coles on Aug 4 1944 in Bristol. On the wedding certificate, it says that Cyril was the son of John Coles who was a messenger at the admiralty, living at Kingham Farm, Combe Down, Bath at the time. I would love to trace a photo of Cyril Coles, or his wider family. Does anyone have any leads for me? It would be great to know exactly which house Cyril used to live in, and whether it still stands? Anyone have a photograph?

Dear Jenny. I’ve just had a telephone call with a chap who believes he is the son of Cyril Coles - the same one I posted about up who was married to a Lilian Curthoys first, before she went onto marry again. The chap I was talking to just now was a Doman. Do you have siblings and if so, do you know their names and dates. I’m trying help him trace/have certainty to the link between him and Cyril Coles being his bio father - and therefore possibly knowing for sure his bio mother too. I’m at mattjelf.music@gmail.com
