Memory Lane /Am I Getting Old?
A Memory of Crouch End.
So nice to read all the great reminders of my childhood.I too went to Rokesley Infants,Crouch End Juniors and Crouch End Secondary School.1945/1955.One establishment that seems to have been forgotten is the 'Bread an' Drip Shop' next to CESC in park road.I can still taste the 'doorsteps' of new bread thick with beef dripplng, probably not healthy, but delicious.Souch's that sold us little balsa wood aeroplanes for a couple of pence each. Some names that stay with me are : Johnny Stretten (Park Road) Tony Roth ,Ashley Pripstein,Alan Radar,Geoff Selway,Brian Deards,Mickey Weston,Eric Fortune,Roy Skelton(to whom i owe so much) Colin Bint,Billy Earl,Ray Philipps,Alan Parris(Nelson Road) Lennie Coxall,Charlie Garratt and Ronnie Poulter.I wonder where they are now,I hope life has been kind to them.
Alan Carter,
Palace road.

stumbled across your post while searching out old pics of Crouch End. I am Alan Paris of Nelson Road but I'm sorry, I don't recall yourself. I went to Rokesley Infants, Juniors and CESC between 1953 / 63 so our years don't match. A couple of names I remember from Rokesley are Keith Elliot and Roger Davis, from CESC Peter Kent, Ray Lewis, John Hillier, John Smith, Dave Balls. Main memory of CESC is of getting "slippered" by Mr Salter on several occasions and getting the cane from the headmaster, not that I was particularly naughty, it just seemed any excuse in those days ( can you imagine that happening today ! ). Remember the annex in Tivoli Road also.
Take care,Alan Carter.
