Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

This is the view that Daventrians saw of the BBC station. These masts are the result of the opening of the Empire Station in December 1932, in time for King George V to broadcast his Christmas message to all quarters of the Empire. This service, broadcasting round the clock in 40 languages, became well loved by 'ex pats', and it was a trusted source of truth and news both during the war and through the succeeding cold war. The service from Daventry was closed in 1991. We, in Daventry, still reminisce about hearing the World Service on toasters and kettles!
