More about this scene
This track could be part of the route along which came supplies of wool for Dolphinholme Mill. Horse-drawn carts and heavy wagons ascending the hill to the factory needed some of the workforce to push the heavy loads. Mr W Winder, the church clerk, has a chest of drawers made from a hand loom which once supplied the mill. Instruments for combing and carding wool have been found at farms nearby.
