More about this scene
This view looks back west from the far end of the High Street, beyond the infill buildings. Sackville House, on the far left, has now had its timber-framing exposed. Beyond is Dorset House, brick with a deep eaves cornice and dating from 1705. F Bodle and the coal merchants, on the right, have been replaced by a 1930s Tudor- style pub, the Rose and Crown.
