New Hall Baths

A Memory of Fazakerley.

I remember before leaving Fazakerley Comprehensive School I was learning to swim and the teachers took us to New Hall baths, I remember one day I had my swimming lesson and had to return to school in a wet swimming costume as someone had decided to look in my bag and nick my undergarment. I was easily embarrassed them and sat with a red face for the rest of the school day.

I loved going the swimming baths and now it's closed down I miss it as I uld escape to the warmth of the pool away from everyday life. I even went once and found a cockroach swimming towards me.

Hi Ann Me and my Twin brother went to Fazakerley Secondary Modern School,. We were 16 years of age in 1962. We lived 200 yards from the school in Kinross Road. The dreaded Mr Copestake was our head Master. Although I was not a good pupil I was friends with many of the teachers including Mr Stinson, Mr Ore, and especially our woodwork teacher Mr Wilkinson. I left with no GCE's but did very well with ULCI exams. I think I grew a brain at about 21 and have run my own business and am still running it now at the age of 69. One of my Highlights was buying a sailing boat in Miami and sailing it back to North Wales were I Have lived for 50 years. Class mates I rememberare Gillian Newsham, Denise Lockey, Jean Hall, Raymond Hardacre, Kenny Robinson, Norman Higham and many more, It would be nice to hear from you! Leonard Smith (Smudger)
