More about this scene

Sir Cuthbert Quilter established a steam-drawn chain ferry between Felixstowe and Bawdsey. The two ferry boats, commissioned in 1894, were the 'Lady Quilter' and the 'Lady Beatrice'; they operated until 1931. In the foreground children make daisy chains and play with a cart, while a delivery is made to Margaret Rogers, landlady of the Ferry Boat Inn.
