More about this scene
During the Protectorate in the 17th century, the cathedral was in danger of being pulled down. The Little Cloister had its roof taken off, and the plants grown in the garden for medicinal purposes and for food were removed. On 9 June 1657, an act was endorsed saving the cathedral and the Little Cloister. The buildings were passed on to the people of Gloucester, and saved.
