St Anne's Well
A Memory of Great Malvern.
As children we went off on our own exploring the Malvern Hills. Along the footpath of North Hill from by the quarry, which was still being used in those days.
Climbing up the side of the Beacon and quenching our thirst at St Anne's Well.
We would make our way to the Toposcope. On a clear day we could see across to Bredon Hill, all the way to the Black Mountains. Into Herefordshire and Wocester Cathedral in the distance too.
There was a cafe nearby but we didn't have any money so even if we were hungry it was a long trudge back to St Anne's Well for a drink then set off back home.
We would be gone for hours. Mother never worried, she always said we would be back when we were hungry.
Happy carefree days. Long gone.
