Hastings, The Beach 1925

More about this scene
The increase of the houses of visitors must tend to spoil the original individuality of a population, but in Hastings these qualities are preserved to an unusual extent, especially among the fishermen. Under the East Cliff, 'Dutch' fish auctions are often held. The steep, turfy slopes of its East and West Hills have recently been made more accessible by means of a lift. The bathing here is excellent in every way.
