Horse Riding

A Memory of Hatch End.

When I was young, my mother used to take me to the field at the top of Altham Road. In those days (the 50's) it was a large field before the houses were built. A lady named Gilder would bring her horse to the field to give the kids a ride round the large circular patch by the pylon.

Who went to Woodridings School in the early 50's. The boys had to leave and move on when they turned 8 years old.
Hello John Walker, I’m Richard Jackman and remember you from Hatch End, keen on cars as I remember! I went to Woodridings before going on to Grimsdyke where Miss Bicknell was the head. I lived in Clonard Way
I too had riding lessons with Gilda Libbish (this is how I remember her name) I remember she had a stable for her pony which was the garage of her family home behind Harch End High Street and I used to visit it and learn about tack and grooming. Happy Days!
