A Selection of Memories from Hawley

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Hawley

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I lived at Briar cottage just up from Mrs Stencil's pig farm and went to Hawley county primary school during 1959 1960 I think. We then moved up Fernhill road to Manor lodge which at that time I believe belonged to the RAF and the army, what a wonderful place to live as a small child. Does anyone have any photos of either place or the area around that time please?
I remember the Hawley Hotel very well. I was a bridesmaid to my uncle and his new wife who had their reception there. We also used to go for Sunday lunches there and later on in years it used to host a evenings for C B clubs (before the days of mobile phones!!)
Do you remember the Hawley Hotel in the seventies and eighties, we took our children to the bonfire nights there.
My paternal great grandfather, Thomas Feasey, married Kate Amelia Lovegrove in Hawley on 4th January 1879. Does anyone else have a memory of Thomas and Kate?
