More about this scene
Built in the 13th century, and later part of the property of Anne Boleyn's family, Hever was rescued from obscurity by William Waldorf Astor, who bought it in 1903 and spent a fortune restoring it to its former glory. When this picture was taken, Hever was in good condition, but had been reduced to nothing more than a farmhouse.
