Life In The Country

A Memory of Hilgay.

I was stationed in the USAF at RAF Lakenheath. I resided at Church View, Church Road with my wife, 3 daughters, and our 3 Shelties. My oldest daughter Cindy learned to ring bells at the church and was sweet on a local boy, Robert Pepper, who was killed early in life on a motorcycle. My den turned into a local gathering place for the teens in the village and I thoroughly enjoyed my tour, the people in the town and the wonderful view of the church from our front gardens. I will always cherish the memorys of the English countryside and the Fens.

Comments & Feedback

Hi was looking for something on hilgay and just found this your comment is a long while ago so hope this email will get to you. I am Sara Ambrose (Clements) in those days and lived in the village. I remember you all well I used to come round and play with Tammy I remember the big house with stair cases either side and the den not that Tammy and I sat with Cindy and Robert often I remember Tammy used to love horses and had lots of toy horses we used to play with. I remember when we went onto base to an air show and helped out on a drinks stall the village of hilgay was a lovely village to grow up in. Love to you all Sara x
