More about this scene

The two small buildings on the right have been replaced. One was taken down, and apparently the other fell down! Now there is a spate of banks. Boots have changed their location to be in one of the new shops. The white shop facing the Market Place, now the Achurch Hardware Store, was the Conservative Club; B E Lilly to its right has been replaced by Poynton's, but is still a shoe shop. This was Sir Joseph Banks's house.

Life Without Love
I’m Don Spencer. I entered homeleigh orphanage in 1954 at the age of 7. After a period in reception, I was transferred to home 10, a house for boys, run by miss Shaw as our mother. A ginger haired bad tempered woman, who took delight in punishing us at every opportunity. Outside activities kept me sane, school and football mainly. Homeleigh Memories
my brothers and I were sent to homeleigh in 1958 after our father was demobbed from the RAF and our mother became ill . Iremember arriving at the recieving home under the watchful eye of the Vardy's and after a few days moving to home 4 which was being run by MR&MRS Blades who were very nice.Iremember being invited into their living room whenever RUSS CONWAY was on there tv (I think she had a thing for him) ...see more

John Bannister
I was at the home in 1950 I was a baby taken there from my birth I believe my sister Hilda Boswell was there as well. We came from Gainsborough. I have only recently discovered this and am trying to.get any info out there Comment please if you remember either Hilda or John Does anyone know where Wragby home was I had a sister there.

Life At Holmeliegh Childrens Home
I spent ten years of my life at the Holmeliegh from 1939-1949. I was known to everyone there, children & staff as BUNNY and I can honestly say that although things where hard I was never mistreated in any way. We were looked after well and really wanted for nothing except maybe real Mother love. I was a bit of a rebel and often got punished but never violent I read the article by Michael ...see more

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
