Hounslow In The 50's

A Memory of Hounslow.

Does anybody remember me. I was called June Warne. I lived down St Dunstans road, then Cedar Road in Cranford. I we to Cranford Primary School. I was born in 1945 and have a younger sister called Jackie. I used to have a v good friend called Carol,Bennett who lived on Beavers Lane Estate.
We used to go round with a small gang of boys. I remember we all used to go to Laleham on Sunday afternoons and pile into my dads big old car. My dad was a policeman and my mum was a teacher at Archbishop Myers comprehensive School. By this time had moved to Beresford Gardens off Wellington Road South. I used to go to Spring Grove Central School, but when I was 13 I then went Twickenham a Technical Commercial College at Hampton.
I now live in Somerset but often think of those fun filled days when we had no worries.
I could go on and on.......

Sad to say that a lot of people we once knew sadly are no longer here. My husband passed away in October and I am still coming to terms with it. Where did all our yesterday’s go
I am on Fb as June Dodsley and have sent you a message
Looking for forward to maybe meeting up in the future
Take care. June Dodsley (nee Warne)
I remember Ernie Herschel I think. Is he still alive?
Dave Goddard has been in touch. It was nice to hear from him again. We had a great connection once. Funny how you remember certain things about people. He camevround my house one Sunday morning and he had jeans on!,,,
My mum and dad thought this was terrible and I had to ask him to go home and put “proper” trousers on I felt so embarressed for him. Funny how things like that stick in your mind. I had a big crush on him at the time. I often tell my grandchildren this when they say my sons are strict with them. At least th e boys that come to their house don’t have to go home and change inton”proper” trousers. How times change. Goodness knows what my parents would think if they saw people walking round with rips in their jeans.
Hi Keith
Just fb bunny and suggested Bunny you Dave Goddard and myself all meet up early next year at Hammersmith (coz I won’t drive that far) I can get a coach direct from Yeovil to Hammersmith gets in about 11.30am. Go to a pub to have a drink or 2 to remember Ernie. I can then get 6.15pm coach back to Yeovil.
By the way Dave and myself are spending a weekend together end of Nov(separate rooms). Let me or Bunny know if you would like to join us. Really hope you will. Love June xx

Have spoken recently to Bunny. Am contacting him when I get back from Denmark early Jan with a view to meeting up with both of you at Hammersmith to have a nice lunch and drink and remember Ernie. Hope you keeping ok - I am generally ok apart from aches and pains that comes to us all. Met up with Dave Goddard (via Bunny) but it all went pear shaped I’m sad to say. Yes I sent copy to my sister who lives in Denmark and has fantastic memory. She recognised quite a few people but I didn’t. Hope to see you soon. Junex
I used to live at 46, St. Dunstans Road - one of 7 Jones kids (poor old Mum) who all went to Cranford Infant & Junior then Woodfield. I remember Jimmy Wilson and his wife who was a nurse at number 44 and the other side of us at number 42 were the Lyndseys, Fred & Doris with a daughter called Anne. We used to have evenings playing cards at number 42 and they both smoked Embassy cigarettes so you could hardly see the cards for the fog. Fred was a park keeper at Lampton Park and my Grandad Fred Westwood was a park keeper at Inwood Park. I live in Hampshire now but love to see all these memories
Hallo, I went to Woodfield School, loved it so much!
I also attended Cranford Juniors, hated it, had the horrible Miss Andrews.
I lived in Rectory Court! Still in touch with Jackie Brewer and Susan Coleman
JB lived in Stansfield Rd and SC very near the Wellington PH!
How I miss those days, especially Giltrows and Woolworths. Sandy
The other sister was Nita (Anita). I am Jackie Hart (Warne)
