Roman Ipsden
A Memory of Ipsden.
In the late 40's my grandparents the, Lanes, lived just out of Ipsden, we lived in Brightwell cum Sotwel, and we visited them frequently. I remember that the old lady who ran a small shop next to some fields used to collect Roman antiquities after the fields had been ploughed for 'wheat?' and she had quite an extensive collection including whole jars. I still have some of the sherds. I wonder iof any serious work was ever carried out on what could have been a small village or farm house. Regards Richard Bird
