A Beautiful Place
A Memory of Knighton.
My family roots are from knighton and lloyney, Mona Cadwallader was my aunt she was a midwife in knighton, her sister edith gordon (both nee hammond) was my nan, they lived in lloyney before marriage mona and her husband ken lived in frydd terrace and nan went to liverpool. My mum spent her childhood with the family in knighton and was evacuated there ww2, my nans cousin vincent hammond lived with his parents edward and bertha hammond in rose cottage edward a tailor which ran in the famiy and bertha a baker, vincent was K I A in france ww1, there great grandfather henry griffiths helped build the viaduct, lots of stories have been passed down by my mum and i go to knighton 2-3 times a year, to tend to the graves of the family.
My second cousins jocelyn and brenda are still there they was both school teachers in the knighton school, mary cadwallader wrote a book about knighton and the offas dyke lots of old photos in there
