If I remember rightly, the Middle Lane school / Knottingley High School opened around 1966/67, as we were the first ones to go to the school after leaving Ropewalk School where we did our first year. The new fire station was built around the late 60s as I remember going to bonfire nights that the station used to run on the land next to the station My mum also used to cook for the station on a Sunday lunchtime ....
