Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Here is a fascinating picture taken from the newly built block of flats, Low Cross Court. In the distance the modern cooling towers of Ferrybridge Power Station and in the middle distance the Aire and Calder Navigation parallel with the River Aire. The ancient church once marked the western edge of the old town and further to the left was the site of the Old Hall and Lime Grove - once homes of important landowners.

My Time At Middle Lane School
If I remember rightly, the Middle Lane school / Knottingley High School opened around 1966/67, as we were the first ones to go to the school after leaving Ropewalk School where we did our first year. I stayed at Knottingley High until I left in 1970. I was in what was then called 4 building. Date Is Wrong
The new fire station was built around the late 60s as I remember going to bonfire nights that the station used to run on the land next to the station My mum also used to cook for the station on a Sunday lunchtime ....

Ropewalk School Abt 1925.
My father Fred Beckett was born 1909 in Knottingley. Attended Rope Walk School up to about 1925. I remember him telling me that he had painted a large peacock on one of the walls in the school hall. This had remained part of the school for many years.

St Botolph's School
Started my school life here in 1967 and was at St Botolph's school, or as it was known to us as just ropewalk school. I have very fond memories of the place and some rather nasty ones of a particular teacher called Mrs Wadsworth. Remember having my first crush on a girl in my class called Elizabeth Cockerham although all the boys did, including Paul Baines and Mark Pearson the vicar's son, we were best mates ...see more

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
