More about this scene

Whether arriving from the harbour or the Glenarm Road, this was the first view of the aptly named Main Street. Nearly a third of a mile long, it now shows off the town's electricity with poles to carry the lighting and telephone system. Although incidental to this scene, the substantial Laharna Hotel was the first feature to catch the eye. The top storey was a recent addition in response to the growing popularity of the short sea route.
