Coffee Bar, Lemington.
A Memory of Lemington.
In the Fifties I discovered, or rather was introduced to, a coffee bar somewhere in Lemington, in Newcastle and this became the place to go! I don't remember what we drank - coffee? squash? I have no recollection. But what I do vividly remember is the juke-box! We kept putting the money in and it rewarded us with those great hits of the day: Red River Rock, Oh Carol, Blueberry Hill - every one of them a winner! The lads would show up dressed in the fashion of the Teddy Boy, some on motorbikes, which would then transport us girls, clinging to the back of the rider, our skirt blowing in the slipstream, along the coast road, to Whitley Bay, where we wouldn't spend much time because the thrill was in the ride and so after a quick gander we took off again, back to Newcastle. The only names I remember are Anne Robson, John (Bunter) Gallon, Tony Grey, Mary Wilson and Jim (Flinky) Bingham. Much water has passed under the bridge, but as I am still knocking around it is very likely they are also.

Are you from that area? But likely not so far back in time! Thanks for getting in touch. I miss Newcastle very much and any little contact I get is lovely. I know Newcastle has moved on leaps and bounds but in my mind it stays as I remember it.
Best wishes
