Share your own memories of Little Sandhurst and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

I was at both the old and new Scotland Hill school, left in 72. Mr Shanks was a fearsome character, with some relief when he retired. I use to go to Mrs Huddles house occasionally as she lived in forest end. Kind lady. Mrs Culbert lived opposite me in Hearts Leap Road, I remember her driving a light blue bubble car, always had a serious look about her. I still have our schools football photo with Mr Fowler ...see more
When I was in my early teens birdnesting I got caught on the Swan neck pipe in the top right hand side of shop and had to be rescued by Bill Parker who lived opposite. He had to hold the only available ladder on his shoulder I climbed down and ran away o happy days. Contact at bugsymason@talktalk.net. this corner of little sandhurst has lots of happy memories for me every thing seems as if it only ...see more
Can anyone tell me where Ackrill corner is located in Little Sandhurst as it is named after my great great grandfather Ackrill and my grandfather George Ackrill would be very proud that a street was named after him. It is no longer listed and the only photo of it showing Ackrills corner is from 1955 so it must have been re named since then. I would like to know where exactly it is located in Little Sandhurst. Hoping someone can help me.
I attended Scotland Hill School from 1940 to 1946, after which I moved to Crowthorne C of E School. The school dinners were interesting; they used to be delivered in metal containers in a van to the ...see more
This is more or less as the centre of Litle Sandhurst appeared in 1958 - very little changed from 1939. We lived on the other side of this photo at a row of houses called (I don't know why!) Gibletts Folly. To the left of this photo is the bottom of Scotland Hill, which towards the top was very steep and the tarmaced road stopped before the top, replaced by a stony track. At the very top was Scotland ...see more
My best memory of Little Sandhurst was being able to run freely through Wellington College woods as I was an avid fan of athletics and still am.  I lived in Edgbarrow Rise and can remember people like Peter Searle, John Irwin (now deceased), Peter Barber (now deceased), Derek and David Wood and many more.  My mum used to work in the local post office and her name was Maria.  I went to Scotland Hill school, the old ...see more
