Memories Of Little Sutton
A Memory of Little Sutton.
I have just stumbled upon this site and have spent a few happy hours reading memories of Little Sutton, here are a few of my own.
My brother, Edward (known then as Teddy) Johnson, and myself, Sharon, lived in Hawthorn Road. I remember the Tennis Club on Spring Gardens (i think) The Bowyers lived in Spring Gardens, our neighbours were the Lowes and the Bromleys.
I remember Dolly Worthingtons on Walkers Lane, I used to call her Aunty
Dolly and I am sure she was related somewhere along the line. My mum used to shop at the Co-op and was nearly always served by Flo. I attended Sunday School at the church and briefly went to Berwick Road school, the teacher I remember was Mr Foxhall I think there was also a Mr Wynne.
We moved from Hawthorn Road to Kronsbec Avenue where we spent many happy days playing on the fields where they later built the pub and Tesco. It was the best place to sledge down in the winter and in the summer we would play in the Bluebell Woods on our way to the baths.
I also remember the fair where the library is and my mum used to waitress in the Red Lion. I think Mrs Mulverhill had it then. I also seem to remember walking up to the Cheshire Show at Hooton and playing on the Rec until it went dark
