More about this scene

Before the construction of the M5 in the 1970s, the A38 was busy with West Country traffic. Under the Mendips, the Old Post House (by the phone box) and Weare House (to its left), now private houses, and the Lamb Inn (behind the photographer) offered refreshment and accommodation to travellers.
