More about this scene
This low tide view from the Outer Breakwater looks northwards to Victoria Pier and the town as the Weymouth paddle- steamer 'Duchess of Devonshire' reverses away from the Cobb. The cobbler and town crier George Legg, in Silver Street, used to be the agent for the steamer operators Cosens & Company. Summer day trips reached beaches, piers and ports from Torquay to Bournemouth. This shot looks northwards to Marine Parade (centre) and beached boats at Cobb Gate.
