Built in 1870 to replace the earlier Wilbraham almshouses, these delightful cottages are said to stand on a site originally used for a leper hospital founded here in the 13th century. This would make sense, as in those days such a hospital would need to have been some short distance from the community it served, and this site would have then been well outside the town.
