Plumpton Close

A Memory of Northolt.

My grandparents Jack and Beral Storey lived at 8 Plumpton Close with their kids Ricky, Stevie, Sharon and Darrell. My dad was Stevie who sadly passed away in 1980. I spent every weekend at my nan's and have great memories like going to bingo at the working mans club round the corner where my grandad Jack would call the numbers, going round the cabin to get my aunty Sharon Embassy no.6 with a 50p wrapped up in a note and I'd get a load of 1p sweets as a pay off hahaha, playing Footy down the end of the road in the playing field but having to jump over the fence first or playing tennis down at the green garages at the bottom of Plumpton Close. Every Saturday was shopping day down at South Harrow with Nan and she would always buy me a toy, bless her heart. I remember the Wilkinsons and Dennis who would always work on his cars in his garage. I also remember they had a Lassie dog. Great times of my childhood, never forgotten. Jack and Beral moved to Somerset but Jack passed away, RIP fella, but Ricky, Sharon and Darrell and most of the grandchildren all live locally but I now live in Dubai because of my work, soon to move to Hong Kong in Feb 2012, but I never forget the old days spent at Plumpton Close on the Racecourse estate :-)
