The Three Pitches
A Memory of Palmersville.
I was born and lived in Forest Hall, 1952-1968. I have happy memories of Palmersville, a lot of my friends lived there. We used to hang around the three pitches, in those days, the large football field. I remember Ords Farm, went strawberry picking there a few times in the school holidays. I remember Thorrington's shop, that's where we bought our sweets with our 2s 6p pocket money. Then there was the Co-op shop, that was just a bit further up the road from Thorringtons. Then of course there was the old Cement Houses, opposite Thorringtons. My great-great-grandparents lived in one of them, 1905-1917. They were demolished back in the 1960s.
